A to Z Challenge: B is for Beatrice

Welcome to day 2 of the A to Z Challenge! If you're visiting from the A to Z trail, please leave the link to your blog so I can return the favor!

This year I am visiting some of my favorite female characters from books I've read. I'm just doing my part to add to your long 'to-read' list! Happy Hopping!

B is for Beatrice 'Tris' Pryor

I like Tris because she is brave, determined, and intelligent. She knows she is the underdog, but doesn't let that get in her way. She knows that the mix of traits makes her different and is dangerous for her, but again, she doesn't let it stop her. She makes the list as one of my favorite characters because she is a strong protagonist without being perfect.

Here is the book description courtesy of Amazon:

This first book in Veronica Roth's #1 New York Times bestselling Divergent trilogy is the novel the inspired the major motion picture starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Kate Winslet. This dystopian series set in a futuristic Chicago has captured the hearts of millions of teen and adult readers.

Perfect for fans of the Hunger Games and Maze Runner series, Divergent and its sequels, Insurgent and Allegiant, are the gripping story of a dystopian world transformed by courage, self-sacrifice, and love. Fans of the Divergent movie will find the book packed with just as much emotional depth and exhilarating action as the film, all told in beautiful, rich language.

One choice can transform you. Beatrice Prior's society is divided into five factions—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). Beatrice must choose between staying with her Abnegation family and transferring factions. Her choice will shock her community and herself. But the newly christened Tris also has a secret, one she's determined to keep hidden, because in this world, what makes you different makes you dangerous.

Have you read the Divergent Trilogy? Which faction do you most identify? Are you visiting from the A to Z Challenge?

  1. I really enjoyed the Divergent Trilogy. I love books! :) I'm reading a great series right now: The Lunar Chronicles. The first book is called CINDER. Great writing. Great storyline.

  2. I have not read the trilogy, but I thought the first movie was very good. I'm sure I'll see the other two at some point. My reading list is just a bit too long to read the books, unfortunately.

  3. Dear Sabrina,
Thanks for visiting me at Abbie's Adventure Diaries. The Wizarding World is a must see, definitely, and specially if your son has been reading Harry Potter or watching the movies.
I loved reading your blog. I shall be following your Facebook and Twitter! Wow, you have authored YA novellas. How I wish to publish a fiction novella one day.
I haven't read the Divergent series. You know, I haven't been able to make time from The Mortal Instruments series. I am still stuck on the last book.

  4. I've only read the first one, great question. Hmm, I like to think I could be part of the Erudite, but I'm probably more of a Candor.
