Pre-A to Z Challenge Book Promotions

On Friday, April 1st, I'll be starting the month long posts for A to Z. So today, I thought I'd give myself a little blogging break and take the opportunity to promote my YA Fantasy novellas: Lost Haven In the near future, a few young women manifest extraordinary abilities called "Shine." Each girl's ability is different. Some develop extraordinary mental abilities. Some become physically strong. Others have powers that defy description. But the world does not embrace these Shines. It fears them. Camille’s life hasn’t been the same since her parents' traumatic murder-suicide. In the aftermath, an intruder breaks into her home. Camille discovers a mysterious thumb drive hidden in her father’s office and realizes the unwanted changes in her life are just beginning. Caught in a spider's web of politics and conspiracy, betrayal and abduction, Camille is about to discover that the world is changing and hiding is not an option. Not even for Shines.

Funny Friday!

Image
Today's Funny Friday blog post comes thanks to my kiddo and his love of story time. At 9 years old, my beautiful boy doesn't care that he can now read pretty much anything himself now. He still loves to curl up next to mommy and hear me read stories out loud. He says I make them 'special'. *cue melting heart* Our current story time project is Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials Trilogy . We're only a few chapters into book 1: The Golden Compass and the boy is hooked. He loves, loves, loves the banter between Lyra and her daemon, Pantalaimon. One particular comment by Pan made him giggle particularly loud, which in turn made me laugh. So today's Funny Friday is a piece of a conversation between Pan and Lyra. "...And I think it's none of our business. And I think it would be the silliest thing you've ever done in a lifetime of silly things to interfere. It's nothing to do with us." "Don't be stupid," Lyra said. &q

I've jumped on the blogging crazy train again this year and decided to do the A to Z Blog Challenge 2016!! And today is the great Theme Reveal Day!!! *cue confetti & streamers* I've found a theme just makes everything easier and much more fun for me. If you're new to this wild ride, I'd definitely recommend doing the same. Here are the theme's I've done in the past. 2015-Female characters from books, movies, and tv shows. 2014-My favorite fantasy characters 2012-Poems based on subjects taken from the epic fantasy I was working on at the time(hardest theme ever). Since I'm a fantasy writer, I wanted keep my theme related to this in some way. So without further ado: My 2016 AtoZ Challenge Theme is: Each letter of the alphabet will cover a god or goddess from among the world's deities. This is a topic that fascinates me and I look forward to sharing it with you each day in April. So be sure to stop in and comment with your op

Attention Historical Romance Lovers & Funny Friday Fans!

Image
Tomorrow is the release day for my writer bestie, Angela Christina Archer. If you're into historical romance and find the 1930s depression/prohibition era interesting, I think you'll really enjoy this one. Here's my own quick summary and review. As The Liquor Flows   is a historical romance set in the 1930s depression/prohibition period U.S. and the glory days of the mafia. Black Tuesday, October 29, 1929, the day the stock market crashed, and the day Evelyn Ford will never forget. With the untimely death of her parents and the loss of their only income, Evelyn, and her brother, Frank flee to a make-shift hovel built in Central Park. After Frank mysteriously goes missing, bare cupboards force Evelyn to seek employment anywhere she can find work, even if that means working at a burlesque theater. Catching the attention of Don Vincent Giovanni, a Kingpin in the New York mafia, Evelyn discovers that Frank is serving time in prison for running hooch and he owes V

Criticism is Necessary!

Image
Along with sending my novels to beta readers, I also have select family members that read them for me. My current work-in-progress is in the revision stage. As with all my books, I sent it to my grandma. And as I was counting on, she didn't just praise me. She saw issues and told me so. This blog is for my grandma, who, despite fighting cancer for the last 2 years, took time to read my books and give me criticism I can use to get better. Thanks, Gram! You're my hero. If I'm half the woman you are, I'll count my life a success. I love you. Do you have family and friends who love you enough to criticize you when you need it? Who is your personal hero? If you like what you read here, please consider visiting my  website  to check out out my books.

Funny Friday ~ A's Euphemisms

Image
Welcome, friends, to my Funny Friday post. I have a somewhat quirky sense of humor, so I hope I can at least elicit a smile to start your weekend off right, each week. This week's FF post comes courtesy of my 9 year old son, whom I'll refer to as 'A' or 'the kiddo'. Now any parent knows that kids will do anything and everything to get around the rules, especially when it comes to improper use of language. My husband and I love the use of the occasional swear word, so my son is familiar with them. In an effort to NOT be a hypocrite, the rule in our house is: No adult words until you're an adult (age 18 in the U.S.). My son is pretty good at following the rules, especially when he considers them logical like this one. He's also pretty good at finding ways around them. So good, in fact, that I've taken to calling his ways around cursing without cursing, A's Euphemisms. Let's put it in context. My hub of nearly 10 years, loves t

A Glimspe of Inspiration

You know that feeling you get when you're working on something and you just KNOW it's going to be amazing...and then it is?! Yeah, I'm there. Over the past 6 months, since finishing my last Shine novella, I've been hard at work on a fantasy romance novel. I've received the manuscript back from my beta readers and have dedicated the month of February to getting all edits finished.  Now, I know you're all curious to know what it's about, and while I'm not ready to tell you, I thought I'd share a glimpse of what I've been using for inspiration. I hope to be able to share more about it later on in the year. Enjoy these inspirational images I used for this project. Intrigued? Visit my WEBSITE  and Subscribe to receive updates first about my writing. If you are a YA Fantasy fan, check out my Shine novellas, Lost Haven, Road to Nowhere, and The Gilded Cage . And remember, if you read or have read any of my books, please con
