Today's A to Z Challenge letter is ~D~ and for this one my poem will be about one of my favorite secondary characters, Deitric. He is Ruark's best friend and a slave to Ruark's household. You know you're intrigued. *wink*

Deitric

Devoted friend, a natural
Entertainer who
Insists on making me laugh.
Trustworthy confidant,
Refusing to leave my side even when
I am in danger of turning against him.
Courageous, Deitric, brother of my soul.

    *Love this poem - thanks for sharing! I went to a workshop with Richard Peck 4-5 years ago, and he said he writes a poem about each of his characters before he begins writing the book. It's one of the ways he gets to know his characters.

      Before doing this I didn't understand how true that is. These poems about my characters and even about a theme in my book are really making me think deeply about who and what it's all about.
